1995 - "HOLE IN THE WALL"
Brooklyn's first BCAT variety show.

"Hole In The Wall" was the second BCAT project we took on for CRN Productions. The idea was to create a local variety show featuring the people, places and music of Brooklyn.

We began by upgrading the video production studio we had built for CRN in 1993 and added a few portable cameras to the mix of available equipment. Unlike "Future Stars", which was shot entirely in their private studio, "Hole In The Wall" was to be a mix of local content produced both indoors and out.

The show's content was edgy and diverse. In addition to reviewing tapes that local bands submitted there were comedy sketches, celebrity interviews and live performances.

Some outdoor segments consisted of the show's host "C" (Cliff Nordquist) driving along Brooklyn streets in his custom van while discussing almost anything with those riding along with him, impromptu interviews with local business people or (the audience favorite) "C" chowing-down and messing with the watresses and staff at local eateries.

"C"'s unique strategy worked. By involving local people and business to get involved and even get on-camera the show's audience grew rather quickly. You never knew what would be on the next show or where "C" would show up with the crew. News like this travels quickly in Brooklyn and "Hole In The Wall" became the talk of the town.

At one point "C" made the decision to invite wrestling superstar Captain Lou Albano to join in the general mayhem and help critique some of the band videos which they were now recieving in droves. The segment was taped and before editing was complete we knew we had something special. We were right. The audience response to this one show was such that the decision was made to add a wrestling segment to the show.

It was at about this point that Butterfly handed over regular production of the series to the internal CRN team. We continued to maintain the studio and equipment when necessary but the show was now on auto-pilot and took on a life of it's own.

"C" eventually enlisted the help of a young local reporter to host the wrestling segments and with his help it quickly became the most popular segment and a regular feature of the show.

We were later called back into service to shoot and edit a live wrestling exhibition at South Shore High School during which "C" actually persuaded Mike to do a rare on-camera appearance.

Unable to edit it down to just one segment it consumed an entire show. That show was the start of the next CRN success story, the extremely popular BCAT wrestling show "RingFever".

Re-runs of the "Hole In The Wall" series continued to play on BCAT well into 2002.
